Even worse is that we’ve gifted them points this season that would see them below us

Which would have been far more fitting of the crime IMO.

If they’d owned up to it, complied with the investigation in good faith then 6 points would almost feel fair, but they didn’t. They cheated, lied, hid, delayed, cheated again…. 6 points is fuck all

If im honest,  regardless of how it impacts us, if I were an owner with deep pockets I’d not be discouraged at spending as much as I wanted if the punishment is only 6 points deducted.

If we did the same, I would put money on the F.A saying`As clubs are continuing to ignore the rules, and not taking note of Leicesters recent points deduction, we think it is time to set an example, Albion are being docked 46 points`, { reduced to 45 on appeal }.

Knowing our luck Don Goodman would be ok the appeal panel and spot we’d made a typo on the report and demand another 10 deducted

Leicester. This is a particularly interesting case. A bit of an odd one too.

I'm not sure that firm conclusions can be drawn as this involved PL and EFL Rules and Jurisdiction. Eg there are differences..

*In PL if you extend a Reporting Period as LCFC did they lop off the 37th-month of Costs whereas in the EFL they take 37 months if needed..this was one point of clarity.

In the EFL a £20m overspend gets you 12 Points and Business Plan and so on, or 6 with 6 more suspended, unable to pay Fees or Loan Fees whereas here they  took a % of Upper Threshold breach not an absolute Number to account for 2 divisions.

EFL regular Championship side under consistent EFL Rules may get 10 or 11 for this or 6 with 6 suspended with a Business Plan, Agreed Decision etc.

What a crock of shit.

This.

We've always toed the line. Why bother when the punishment is so insignificant?

A problem is jurisdiction, divisions, Governance..I think the same as you, we did similar post Covid for w years or so.

If a Club are consistently Championship, the EFL version allows for earlier intervention, certainly has done since early 2022. PL have similar Rules but apply them differently.

This case was unique in that it was  Breach in the EFL with 2 prior PL years, Jurisdiction validly Transferred as Leicester went up.

A PL Commission heard it, not the CFRU or the CFRP (EFL Financial Unit and Expert Body).

Indeed.

Palmer, Fellows and Heggem would have easily been worth at least six points this season.
