This is the level of ignorance in the UK

This is the same as the ridiculous debate about "austerity" - spending did not "fall", it just increased less quickly.

That's cleverly worded but not what you posted originally. You claimed immigration was rising, not the number of immigrants was rising which is what you mean. Based on your comment your implication is that no-one can ever become British unless they were born here - where have I heard that before?

It’s exactly what I posted originally. Next you’ll be telling me the coalition cut public spending.

Post 1 - immigration IS still rising
Post 2 - the number of immigrants is rising

Two very different things. Immigration is falling.

Arf. It’s really not. The RATE of immigration is falling.

Arf indeed, both the number and rate of immigrants is falling.

Figures to June 2025 (latest official figures) show immigration as 898k down from 1.3m in year to June 2024. All estimates show the figures have fallen dramatically since then.

But 898,000 more immigrants. So immigration is rising. We could do this all day.

When the rate of inflation comes down (arf) do prices "fall"? No.

And as a perfect example of the thread title you dive straight in.

You are assuming that all of the previous immigrants are still classed as immigrants. Your false equivalence with inflation and prices exemplifies your ignorance on statistics and the subject - when inflation occurs the previous cost can't change status (it will always be pounds and pence) so prices can never fall. With immigration, the immigrants can change status i.e. emigrate, become British citizens, or die therefore comparing this with inflation is where you have fallen over.

Can you bin it with the nativist crap? You're essentially limping my surviving grandparents in with this unless they go back to a country they've not lived in for close to 70 years.

Nativist crap?

When I move overseas I will be an immigrant and always will be. That's just a matter of fact, it's not a value judgement.
