The oceans have needed policing for decades. The modern day pirates that board huge boats and hold it hostage need blasting out the water like drug runners were recently for a kick off. Actions speak louder than words and treaties

The rules that are in place work if everyone applies them. I don't agree with Trump's politics in any shape or form but showing those that take the piss that he's as uninterested in the rules as they are will give them pause for thought. The issue will be how much he applies his powers to just the 'bad guys' and not those that are 'allies', it will be interesting to see how much the US military appreciate the NATO agreement as that will be the key here. Could they have done what they did today without NATO help, probably but not as easily.

Trump is going for soft targets, Russia was never going to play hardball over these supposed shadow fleet supertankers, which makes it odd that they made the warning in the first place.

Maduro needed removing and with all that oil on offer he was the excuse Trump needed.

Greenland looks to be the big one on the horizon. How that plays out could seriously destabilise NATO and embolden China and Russia.

Agree pretty much though it seems more embarrassing to me for Russia when they’ve dispatched protection in the form of a submarine and navy and it does sweet FA when push comes to shove

If putting an American base on Greenland makes the world a more stable place then help them build it. Pacts and treaties will be ignored by Russia and China one day who only respect actions.

There is already an American base on Greenland and they can deploy as many troops as they like. This isn't about Security.
