Even if true it still doesn't excuse the policymaking of the last 18 months does it? Can you point to anything implemented by the Labour party to promote growth rather than strangle it?

Upping infrastructure investment commitments to 2.4% of GDP and decoupling capital spending from day-to-day spending for Treasury investments, the private sector capital commitments in the North East and the uplift to R&D spending.

I'm loathe to defend this government as I think they've been generally meh but the bar to clear from the last government to what I consider satisfactory on the economy is so low that they've already cleared it.
