I really dislike this thread. Mr P is perfectly capable of holding his own, but what’s happening here isn’t a debate it’s an obvious attempt to bully a contributor off the board. It’s an unpleasant, unfunny pile-on. I’ve been on the receiving end of this same treatment because my views on the war in Gaza don’t line up with the board's orthodoxy. It’s no surprise who kicked it off: the self-appointed Auschwitz whisperer who still behaves like he’s stuck in some petty, sneering student politics clique. I value Mr P’s political and economic contributions. They actually make me think, something one or two on here might want to try... Mr tGd do fuck off

FWIW I think Proth is a great bloke. He says himself he doesn’t take life too seriously and we’ve been arguing, debating and piss taking about all manner on here for years without a need for interjection from an utter bell end like yourself

I only brought up Auschwitz because he seems convinced that chaperoning a few school trips there grants him immunity from any accusation of antisemitism, despite loudly embracing Pro-Palestine genocide fiction. Apparently three bus rides with teenagers qualify as a moral character reference. The irony, of course, is that this kind of posturing often comes wrapped in bullying behavior and a stunning lack of self-awarenes

Wow. Not looking to stick up for glasssdoors here, he's good enough to do that himself,  but  I suppose it depends on what you class as genocide. I think there's no doubt there has been a lot of innocent Palestinian people killed for all to see through various news channels. Surely that can't be seen as a good thing no matter what Israels motive is.

I went to auschwitz in 1993.
It has stayed with me always. That is why I opposed genocide, wherever it is committed and whoever is committing it.

Yep. It’s that simple. Of course, if you still see the world through the prism of religion instead of humanity (which is the indelible imprint it leaves) you can’t see why that’s the impact it has on how you see any future genocide, including the current one. It becomes more comfortable to deny it’s happening.

"As of now, there is no single, definitive “UN position” that universally declares genocide in Palestine" There has to be evidence that there is "intent" to commit any of the 5 acts outlined in Article 2. However much people want there to be for whatever their reasons. It will be judged in the fullness of time. I don't see this happening in the next ten years if ever. From a personal POV I recognise that my views may be outliers, but they are nevertheless sincerely held. The Pseudo-intellectual MrgD whose socially liberal views more than likely align with mine, chooses to deny them by insults and inuendo. All I have done is respond in kind. If I occupy space in his thoughts, I must admit: the pleasure is entirely mine. What was that song about Molumby?
