I heard on the radio that if an 18 year old is signed off sick and never gets into work the cost over their lifetime to public purse is £1m. Whereas if you can get them into work, they will earn £1m over their lifetime.

I assume that it is broadly true. So it's a no brainer to throw resources to get young uns into work and giving them the supports and adjustments that they need at the start of their lives.

Surely the grown ups, spiteful Trots, fascist reformers etc can all agree on that?

You have accused thousands of people of committing fraud.
You have declared thousands of people a drain on society.
You in one post suggested they were stealing your children’s future.

The same language, resentment and suspicion that greets those seeking asylum via boats vans etc. What’s the difference? Nothing you are just comfortable using the language for one group and not the other.

As I’ve said numerous times to B1 and others go after NEETs, those that have never worked, those that are hiding behind poor mental health such as anxiety etc.

I cannot understand how anyone can defend the last proposals by Starmer and co, they were not reforms they were cuts without any real thought. If they cannot admit that, then they do not have any real understanding of the problems or any real interest in looking after the disabled. I have zero time for them.

Are you seriously comparing me making a statement that is backed up with figures showing the massive recent growth in benefit spend and how it compares with like economies and their patterns. Whilst at the same time you have been presented with not only anecdotal evidence but YouTube videos showing how people can get around the forms and what they need to put down and how to act at interviews. And then comparing that to people saying those immigrants are ruining the country by taking our jobs and benefits.

Seriously, take a step back and start to do some real reading to understand even the basics, including what ‘means testing’ equates to.

It's not just work they need mon. It's affordable, decent and secure housing too.

Easier to cut benefits than think creatively and invest strategically.

When kids to what we called options in school. Not all want 6th form uni etc
Instead of choosing the usual stuff
Offer them a decent skilled apprenticeship

Then when they finish they are fully trained & ready to start work

This has been heavily invested in recently and you can see the change starting to seep through

Reeves now reversing the planned income tax rise.

I’m sure, at some stage, an academic will attribute a monetary value linked to business caution/reluctance caused by Ms Reeves’ persistent ‘soft landing’ ideas via leaks to the press.
