That the best you can do?
The most ever votes received for an Irish presidential candidate.
Perhaps Keef could do something. I don't know, build some houses, sort out the NHS, stop trying to out Reform Farage?

The best I can do is criticise the awful foreign policy positions of someone who's backed genocidal dictators and attacked the West for responding to threats made against it and is now the top diplomat in Ireland with their role of head of state. Correct.

Like you, the Daily Mail has taken both a stroke and a heart attack
Extremist left-winger confirmed as Irish president https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...menubutton
You do know Ireland is a neutral country?

Do you think the Irish president should compare modern Western governments to Nazi Germany for responding to threats to them, yes or no?
Do you think the Irish president should blame the US and NATO for Russia invading Ukraine, yes or no?
Do you think the Irish president should defend Assad's record in Syria, yes or no?
I don't give a shit about domestic policy for an Irish president, this isn't the French or American president. The Irish government are in charge of domestic policy. The Irish president is the nation's top diplomat as their primary role and her foreign policy positions are awful.

I think you misconceive on so many levels, I don't know where to start really..
I am not even sure if I should try. But the Irish president has a ceremonial role, just about a million miles from the "top diplomat" that you suggest.
Ireland's top diplomat is Simon Harris, the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The point of the United Left coalition in Ireland is to take the presidency, and then to work together to take the Dail to end the Blueshirt FG and Tory FF hegemony. Sinn Fein supported Connolly knowing full well that they couldn't win alone.in that sense, Connolly is being used as a pawn in a grander plan.
Nothing like a bit of Britsplaining. Obviously 1 million irish people are wrong but you are right.

It's not "Britsplaining" to point out that going on a junket designed to launder the reputation of a mass-murdering dictator is a very bad idea. 1 million Irish people may choose not care about that if they wish, but you can't name-call people who do.

Well that's how FG and the right wing media have tried to play it during the election campaign. That's not how she sees it.

As I say, there is a bigger plan afoot and Connolly is just the pawn.

Ireland's presidential system is modelled on the UK, the ceremonial duties of the Irish president parallel the responsibilities of the British monarch. The primary function of the Irish president is to engage globally as the defacto top diplomat, legislative functions are wholly reserved to the Irish government that they defer to.
When foreign dignitaries visit Ireland they engage with the president. The Irish president is the primary international representative of Ireland, much like how the King is the primary international representative of the UK.
You know all of this. You know the Irish president is not like the French and American president. Hence you know exactly why I've specifically brought up her awful foreign policy positions.
And it's not "Britsplaining" to criticise a Putin and Assad apologist. What a pathetic piece of defensive commentary. I note that you've opted to completely avoid answering my questions which tells me all I need to know.
