I don't wish Carlos bad, he saw us through a really bad patch off the pitch and steadied the ship but my god was the football boring at (most of) the time.

He's young so time is on side to develop but at the moment he's looking like a kind of Spanish Tony Pulis. Brought in to stiffen things up (calm down Big John Holmes) but ultimately his football at the moment is pretty dull, boring and devoid of excitement.

Obviously he's never been at a big club with huge attacking talent and Barca are capable of that kind of result against any team in the world but I see him having a steady career at a mid table club in whatever top league it may be.

Not for me. I thoroughly enjoyed watching us turn from an unfit, dysfunctional rabble into a superbly organised machine of a team. So many times at the Hawthorns when the opposition couldn't live with us, especially last season. 

I do think he had taken us as far as he could for several reasons, but comparing him to Pulis is an unacceptable re-writing of history, IMO.

I said elsewhere, he made us into a unit which was comfortable in possession, good on the ball, and leaves a platform to Mogga to throw some sparkle on. I do not think we will change the way we pass it around too much, aprt from getting it forward much more quickly.

We didn't though Pidge, the stats just don't support that. 

We had more touches in our defensive third, and amongst the fewest passes into the final third all season. Your last point is key, Pompey were as bad a team at this level as I can remember. They offered no threat and were wide open. So our players had no fear to bomb on when we did break out.

The goals made it enjoyable, which if they continue to flow, will be the main factor in deciding on whether the games are enjoyable for many I think. That's football at the end of the day.

Is this his first venture into a top flight league? If so then big defeats are inevitable due to the financial imbalance and general uneven playing field.
He was decent here, but took over when we were in a false position and got us to where we probably should be, all things considered. The draws did for him in the end as it gave the impression that he was a safety first, defensive coach. I expect Valencia to improve, however, because of his pragmatism and attention to detail, but it will have no impact against the likes of Barca or Real. They, almost certainly, have a better chance of staying up than they did before he joined IMO. Whether they do or not I couldn't care less though to be fair.

As for us, I expect us to win more and lose more (which is a pretty safe bet, granted) with the PPG not changing massively. Doesn't need to though due to the fine margins between 5th - 8th. I believe we have a better chance with Mogga.

Carlos put the pride back into our club on the playing side, so I wish him every success in the future and will follow his career with interest. I think the animosity being shown towards him is petulant and unwarranted.
