We need to score goals, a part of the game which was under-valued by Saint Carlos. If Mogga cuts down on tippy-tappy nonsense in our own penalty area and gets the ball forward, maybe works with the players on finishing, then we'll score more than we concede whichever CBs he picks.

Many fans have a fixed idea of Mowbray based on how he was 16 years ago. It's like comparing the Beatles doing She Loves You to A Day in the Life- they'd completely changed.
I don't pretend to have analysed closely what Mowbray 2025 is compared to the guy we knew years ago- I haven't followed the style of football close enough. However, I would say he is wiser and more pragmatic, with more soldiers now as part of his team. I spoke to several fans today, with only one really enthusiastic about the appointment, with many stuck in the 2009 relegation time warp. However, as the guy behind me said, Mowbray may be the guy to get a tune out of Grady, Swift and one or two others. As much as I liked CC, he was a safety first manager where the team were well drilled, with little room for flair. I'm actually more enthusiastic for his appointment after today.

I wonder if Frabotta can force his way in?
This would be massive for us allowing Styles to be utilised further forwards.

Styles is wasted at left back. He should be given a central midfield role. It’s who you drop to make that happen.

Styles would make a decent wing back. But our attacking strength is Fellows and Johnson, both wingers. You can’t play wingbacks and wingers. Maybe Fellows could play RWB but it feels a bit of a waste having him doing too much running towards his own goal.
A back 3 of Furlong, Bartley & Heggem would be sent though. Bartley in the middle and the 2 either side both comfortable being pulled out wide to cover the space left by wing backs. If, IF, Johnson could play the 10 role behind Grant and “A Forward” with a more energetic midfield it could work. Probably too many ifs and buts, might get the best from Styles but less from others.

It would also be a good way to blood Taylor into the side if we're not going to send him back out on loan. Two tens from Johnston, Diangana and Maja playing behind Dike would be really dangerous I think. |
