Aren’t work permits usually decided based on the candidate’s experience, salary and the impact of the role? I imagine United fishing on a much more expensive pool may help.

Like complaining someone coming to run a Londis in Birmingham didn’t get a work permit yet the bloke running Tesco could!

Correct.  And it wasn’t Wicky as head coach who had the visa issue.  The criteria for an assistant coach will be much harder to meet,  and in this case it seems that it was the goalkeeping coach who had the visa problem.  The number 2 simply didn’t want to come - not a visa issue with him.

A dose of salts would have sorted that

Dyche is certainly used to that.  But no.

If you listen to the Mowbray interview with Slaven, he says on there he got Sunderland into the play offs with no strikers, he is sp passionate about football it’s a good long interview.

No denying, he comes across as a really intelligent bloke. But as you said I wouldn't go back.

His love for the game has always been unquestionable and it's clearly still there shining brightly. Consequently, it's likely that his enforced year out has got him chomping at the bit to return to a management role. The "going back never works" mantra of some here has already been debunked with numerous examples and there's no reason to think that someone with his deep-thinking and man management skills couldn't be successful with us for a second time.

Apart from the missing huge financial advantage over the rest of the division…

He’s had that once in his career. Says as much in his interview.  All other jobs he’s had to wheel and deal
