Just went out and did 10k, first big run post-Christmas, and fuck me it hurt! 2-3 weeks of gluttony and excess coming back tohaunt me in every stride.

A combination of weather, chicken pox and overall business has kept me from going out. Starting to miss it now.

Had a pretty light year last year with niggles and the arrival of my son.

This year I'll be spending the first few months picking it back up and shedding the extra 7kg I'm now carrying before knuckling down into some training to get back under 40mins for 10k, will likely pick a race in the autumn to have a crack at.

Not ran a step since March (early arthritis in ankle) and missing it like mad after over 50 years for my Club.  Sad

Back in the game this morning, sunny but icy underfoot so took it steady and still managed a respectable 55:31 10k after a month of nothing.

10.8 miles ran over lunch, half marathon is three weeks on Sunday so feeling in pretty good shape now. Will train a little more up to 11-11.5 miles then find the rest on the day.

Only issue right now is because I got soaked early into the run and had to carry on in wet, clingy clothes I've now got some serious chaffing problems.

Nice. Glad I managed to get out yesterday lunchtime before the hailstorm from hell arrived. Only really managing 1 run a week atm due to other commitments but feeling ok and ready to up that when time allows.

You know that niggle i had last year? STILL knackered from it. Stress fracture that wont quite heal. Infuriating. Trying 8 weeks with a walking stick. Asked for cast, crutches etc but three different docs say wont help. Can you just not move for two months? Alas no.

Rant over. For now. Ive got some sparkling clean new trainers i hope i’ll be able to use at some point!

My spring marathon training going well. Have the Cambridge Half the start of March. This weekend’s long run is actually a mileage reduction according to the plan. 90 minutes with each 30minute being quicker than the previous. Final 30 will be somewhere above marathon pace. Promises to be horrific.
