Last year I was regularly running 10k when it was 30 degrees plus, not really very sensible. Ideally I'd go early doors but it's too much faff with school runs and whatnot.

Still havent recovered from the niggle of march. Absolutely written off this year. After thinking it was a niggle got an mri and go told it with a stress fracture in the shin…which after a further mri got told was getting better but still cant run on it. So frustrating. On the plus side in Osaka for the weekend. All drinking and no running required. Going back to the hospital next week. Honestly wish i’d stuck it in a cast for six weeks as not being able to run has really done a number on me this year.

Must be so frustrating pal. I've only been out 5 weeks or so and feel like a years work is ruined, so no idea how you must be feeling.

Been lifting more….but thats about it. Have done a bit of swimming and cycling but aint the same. Hopefully can get back on it. Had got in for chengdu marathon which is end of october but aint happening and even if i thought i could make it i’d just have a crap time preparing for it just stressing if i’d do myself in again! Just gonna have to write this year off and then start from scratch ish when I can. Positive is wont care about beating PBs when I get back….just finishing will be fine!

Managed 5k today without any issues, didn't push it to go fast at all and feel good after it so am quietly confident I have healed myself effectively. Few more 5ks before I start any further though just to be safe.

I’ve realised I need to give myself a kick up the arse in terms of my running and get some much needed focus. To that effect I’ve made the decision to unretire from distance running and enter the Olympic Park half marathon in Feb.
I’m much more disciplined when I have something to focus on. |
