Am in town today and as soon as the sun is out it’s triffic. Hoping to get out tomorrow am.

Noticeably warmer across the last week or so. Finally been able to leave the gloves at home when out.

Got an easy four miles on the plan for later and a juicy tempo session in the morning. Signed up for my first couple of races for a couple of years, fingers crossed the worst of the injuries are now behind me.

I'm just over a week out from Manchester Marathon. Tapering down and doing shorter sessions at marathon pace or lactate threshold. Feels weird after so many long runs.

Got caught in a hail storm this lunchtime, which was nice.

Nowt to do with me. Went for a 5km last Thursday thinking my leg was better. Realised Friday morning that was an error. Annoying.

Did it in 3hrs 50. Went well Til 20 miles then hit a wall. Stopped briefly at 22, rang the Missus and she told me to sort myself out! Finished the last mile well but miles 20-25 cost me 15/20mins in total. Pleased to get it done but a bit disappointed at the same time.

I always think just doing it is an achievement.

Is that your first marathon? Sub-4 is a big milestone so props to you for carrying on at a stage where it is very, very easy to throw in the towel.

Marathons are a completely different beast and I don't think you can truly understand it without doing one. All the training and preparation in the world is no guarantee of the performance you want.

Great effort UCE!

Yeah I remember breaking down somewhere around mile 22-23 when I did London. Luckily I happened to stop next to a sports masseur who gave my legs a quick bosh and I was good to go....

...either that or I just stopped by a guy who enjoyed rubbing blokes' legs, either way it worked!
