6 miles then.

You should work in finance with maths skills like that.

Strange how cyclists tend to use miles, as do those who go walking.  But joggers like to use K. Guess it sounds further.

First thing I learnt using a treadmill at the gym. Always check what the default unit of speed is. Don't try a speed that's in a unit of miles thinking you're doing a unit of KM.

Olympics / athletics is always metres, has there ever been mile based sports there? Other than Roger's 4 minute mile I can only think of runners doing metres, except marathoners... Weird.

They probably only use metres in the olympics cuz it sounds further.    Rolleyes

Number expert 1 0 1 I guess Big Grin

That said 50min for 6 miles sounds faster to me than 50min for 10km.

I'm a runner and do all my training in miles. I'd never set out to do 10km as a training run, but would do 6miles. Likewise if I was at the track I'd work in metres as I know it's a 400m loop.

10km (6.2 miles) is a specific event. As is a marathon (42.2km). It doesn't have to be one or the other.

If you're running a 10km race it doesn't matter if you measure your pace as 6:26min/mile or 4min/km it's the same thing. Not that hard really.

I work in miles, mainly because my watch does and I'm too lazy to change it.

Plus when I was training for half and full marathons obviously it was easier to train in miles for them.

The only other one I can think of is in Oslo when they run the Dream Mile every year instead of the 1500m in the Diamond League.
