Aye. Technically my 2nd after Xmas, but first this year. Makes it easier to keep the habit once you get going.

Did 3-4 sessions in the gym over the festive break but it's only when you run you realise how much extra timber you're carrying.

Took it easy on the running last year due to injuries and focused more on the gym, but planning to get going again this year. Sadly my racing days are now done, can't see myself doing a half or full marathon again, but a comfortable 10k a couple of times a week is certainly acheivable.

3 x 10k a week is optimal for me. Doesn’t work out every week due work, life, kids etc but i try to keep to it wherever possible.

Carrying a little extra bulk from the gym too which doesn't help with running.

First 10k of the year done, bit chilly to start with but nice running in the sun.

Nice work.

Went out on Sunday morning but spent the last couple of days in the gym hiding from the cold.

3 x 10k's done this week now, hoping to get another in Sunday morning before the match to help keep the nerves at bay.

First race of the year. Half marathon and pb 1:44:15.

Got garmin forerunner for christmas and the daily runs really have helped training. Can’t recommend that enough. Hokas have bit the dust after a year so need a new pair of long distance shoes. Aint going hokas again as theyve fallen apart. Ive done some miles in em but for the money spent they aint worth it.

Gone a bit quiet on here, maybe it's the shit weather.

Fitness is finally picking up a bit after what feels like forever nursing various injuries. Managed to get 6-weeks or so actual training behind me and a race in the diary for the spring. Doing the Birmingham HM for the first time in a good few years, looks like they've changed the course and it seems a bit twisty at the start.

Anyone else got any races booked for 2024?

Think I'm retired from racing for the foreseeable. Can barely get over 10k these days due to having neither the time or energy to train to go any further, the idea of doing a half or, god forbid, full marathon is just impossible right now.

Spent most of 2023 in the gym so looking to run a bit more this year though, problem is I'm fair bit bulkier now than I was when I was running properly and struggle with the extra timber I'm carrying.
