Quick question as I can't be arsed to trawl through pages and pages of financial waffle that I won't understand due to my lack of having financial qualifications, who were the total three that made the original approach - oh balls, "allegedly"?

I'll bet you a £20 donation to Acorns that nobody who has started more than 5 games this season leaves this January if you're interested?
The only way I can see that happening, is if the new owners have the loans made by WBA Group Ltd repaid as part of the sale. This would have an immediate impact on the P&L and FFP.
Also, if the new owners repay the MSD loans to stop interest being charged to the P&L and assists with cash flow as the club no longer has to make the repayments on the loans.
The thing is. We don’t know how much money is in the bank at the moment and whether the club can afford to wait until the Summer to offload players, when a number of players can leave the club at the end of their contracts.
What we do know, is that unless we are promoted, then the wage bill has to come down.
At the end of March we will see how much additional funds we borrowed from MSD as I don’t think that’s been made public, or at least I never saw it. At the end of March the accounts will be available on companies house website and the additional loan taken out a few months ago will have to be included in the directors report as a material post balance sheet event. i.e. a large, unusual transaction that took place between the date the accounts were made up to (30 June 2023).
Does that mean you’re not taking CC’s bet?
CC (the real one) said this week that he is hoping to bring in 2 loan players and to hold on to his existing players, unless a large bid come in. Will a large bid come in for any of our players? Doubtful, seeing as most aren't spring chickens. BTA and Palmer are the only two I could see clubs coming in for. Fellows is most likely agent talk.
You have been pretty forceful in your opinion that player sales, in January, were an absolute requisite, and therefore inevitable, in terms of FFP, so, does this mean that CC (the real one) and presumably others at the club, do not fully understand FFP, or were your predictions OTT?

No, not at all. We need to balance the books and we are currently spending more money than we are bringing in, which effectively means losses.
As mentioned above, we’ve spent an excess of around £27m over income in just over 12 months. We need to get the expenditure down and that’s through off loading players to reduce the wage bill. We also need to generate additional income to eliminate the losses and that will be through transfer fees.
The club now firmly believe we will be financially ok to the Summer and won’t sell players in Jan (unless the fee is equal to, or in excess of the club’s valuation of a player, which was stated by CC this week). This is of course fantastic news as it gives us a great opportunity to aim for the playoffs and promotion.
CC also stated this week that if any players were sold, then they’d be replaced.
However…. If we don’t move players on in Jan, then it will be in the summer. But with the club’s year end being 30th June, we’d prefer to have that loss as low as possible for FFP which may push the club to accept a lower figure for a player than they’d prefer to do.

This thread was started on the 05/11/2023 we are now 9 weeks since the captain told us to get tissues at the ready and not for crying in a bad way . Good job we didn’t start crying as we would be drowning now. I know it takes as long as it takes but how much longer as we need players to help Carlos’s threadbare squad.

That's not what you've been saying though. You have pretty much eluded that anyone who thought we could bring in players in January and not sell off high earners had no understanding of FFP and was a bit thick.

We are ok until the Summer and then we will let go or negotiate with the higher earners in the squad. A number will go and others will have to sign smaller or lower contracts. I'd imagine 80-90% of the Dowling / Prem contracts will go.
Maybe these will have incentivised clauses in case of Promotion the following season, unless we go up this time around.
