If Moeen is a bear then Cyrille was a seal/dingle!
![]() This is why test will always be best though. Games/series swinging back and forth and turning on their head in a few overs. Brilliant

I completely understand Broad's decision, and it's far better to go out on top than fade away, but he's still at the top of his game. What a spell this is. What a fitting way to go (taking the winning wicket as I type!)
Jimmy hasn't produced a spell where he's looked like running through a side in a while now, and whilst he still has a good ball in him, he's no where near on top of his game. Broad has got the decision spot on. Unfortunately it looks like we'll have to witness Jimmy fade and perhaps the decision will be the selectors. Which would be a shame as he deserves better than that.
Fitting end to a thoroughly enjoyable series.
A fairer result than it might have been. Test cricket is brilliant.

Last ball in Test cricket is an Ashes Test win taking wicket. You can't get better than that.
My hair is standing on end watching this. For me, we've just seen the last of the best English bowler in this generation (it's the equivalent of Messi and Ronaldo debate, but I slightly side with Broad. I bloody love Jimmy, too). What a duo we've had. What a privilege to have watched them bowl out teams for well over a decade.

What a way to finish a career. A six with your final swing of the bat and an ashes test winning wicket with your final ball. Dreamy stuff.
Think there's a bit of recency bias creeping in with the Jimmy vs broady debate though...

2-2 is a fair series result. Both sides have had sessions of dominance and both sides have had sessions of poor cricket. Ultimately, however, I still can't help but feel that we let Aussies off the hook too many times. They're a better side than us, no doubt, but they haven't been anywhere near their best but have still managed to retain the Ashes.
I've obviously been critical of this current ethos and the unwillingness to play the game situation, I do like the positivity and I sincerely hope England learn from the mistakes they've made throughout. I'm not calling for a complete change it just needs a slight tweak to be less reckless and play sensibly when the match situation dictates. Nothing too drastic, but we do need to learn from this series. A series we could, and arguably, should have won had we taken chances and asserted our dominance when we were on top. Anyway, what a series. And this is why Test cricket is the greatest form of the game. The best moments have been the tense situations which naturally come regardless of style. Winning Tests will get more people interested. Winning is the key. Always has been and always will be. You don't get moments like we've seen across this series in the ridiculous Hundred or the T20 Blast. Red ball is by far the greatest form of cricket. Also the much maligned Bairstow took 2 of the best wicketkeeper catches and scored runs, so as the series went on he got better much to some’s disappointment. since the rain break Woakes, Ali and Broad bowled magnificently and Stokes marshalled his troops brilliantly. Thanks Moen you came out of retirement and did us proud. At some point this player will get his just resorts great all rounder player of the match and player of the series Chris Woakes

Been driving back from Germany, last looked at the score and Australia were cruising with the opening partnership. What the hell happened?
