We can bat, but they're so far ahead of our bowlers.
Jimmy and Robinson having the keeper standing up to the stumps Vs Starc and Cummins hooping it around at 90mph. It's no contest is it really?
No arguing with that, TedM. That's why we needed to make the most of everything offered. We should not have lost the first test had we used common sense and we didnt have to come out slogging head high balls in the 1st innings of this one. Their spinner is in the treatment room FFS, let them wear themselves down. Now a very good team have their backs up. If it was anyone else in the world I could take it and hope we learn a lesson, but to concede the series against these at the first opportunity is plain bonkers.

If you're not sure it's not out. Simple as that. Not so simple. Let the umpires decide.
Same thoughts as with VAR. If you have to take more than 30 seconds to watch multiple replays it's not clear and obvious, therefore you can't give the decision.

If there's doubt refer it to the umpires.

That's what I'm saying. When it's referred and the umpires have to take numerous looks at the footage it's not clear and obvious therefore a decision can't be made. Same with VAR. If you take more than 30 seconds to decide, it's not clear and obvious, is it?

If you take more than 30 seconds to decide, it's not clear and obvious, is it? True. My original point was that it used to be the norm that players would let the umpires know if they felt a catch needed more scrutiny. That side of the game has virtually disappeared. Sadly.

Really? So he should have said he didn't take the catch fair and square? Surely it's down to the umpires to decide? How does that stack up against Stuart Broad's "I never walk. Why would I?" approach? Got booed by the crowd anyway.
To be honest, the Lords crowd have been a bit embarrassing throughout this match. Booed Smith both times he came out to bat. Booed Starc and Lyon when they weren't taking singles.

Bright sunny morning at Lords.
Are we in for more heroics from Stokes?

Not a catch for me. You haven't got control of the ball if you need it to support you from hitting the deck.
