Dropping catches, missing stumpings and having a bowler that won't / can't bowl helps lose em

Agreed.

I'm not calling for an overhaul in style or selection, or anything as ludicrous as that. But Foakes has to come in and we must select a genuine spin bowler who has played regular cricket. Quite who that is, I don't know. But we can't persist with Ali. We need to somehow find a balance between being aggressive and showing positive intent without being reckless and giving wickets away. You don't need to be reverse sweeping, ramping and slogging to score quick runs. There's plenty of safe and sensible ways to score runs.

Australia have taught England a bit of a lesson over the last five days. Slow, sensible and steady cricket beats fast, aggressive and reckless cricket.

Stokes only role in life at the moment seems to be captain -  he does a good job but we need another decent pacy bowling option. Not sure we have any that aren't knackered though

Wicket. I won't start celebrating until we get Khawaja out. Even if we somehow sneak a victory here I still maintain the above post. Small changes need to be made next Test. Regardless of outcome. Nothing too major or drastic.

Absolutely fucking HUGE wicket.

That's what he does.  Key wickets but plenty of loose balls

I still think England will probably win… just. Strange to be talking as if Australia have already won.

I expect the worst so I won't be disappointed! I've no idea where I get it from...

Theirs to lose now. Even with another wicket down they've got enough in the tank to get over the line.

Disappointing but a great test, this has been easily the worst watch of all 5 days, but fair dinkum to the dingo-shaggers, disciplined and dogged 'how to win' performance.

Our fielding has been exceptional.

One of the best Test matches I've seen. Both sides have played excellent cricket, and both have had their back against the wall at times. Superb theatre.

That's fucking huge.

Huge wicket before the new ball.

Seriously regret not pulling a sickie today and going

Should England go on to win this it would be deserved. Aussies were in control at 5 wickets down and should have wrested control. England playing the positive cricket.

England have dropped catches and missed stumpings that have cost significant numbers of runs. They’ve also had two of their main bowlers struggling with injury for the majority of the game. Despite all this, they find themselves 1/2 to win the game deep into the final session.

Struggling to see how, given the above, that the Aussies have taught England a lesson?
