XTC, should have been mega.
Graham Parker and The Rumour.
Not bands, more singer songwriters but: Pete Williams, Jackie Leven.

A pub band who somehow made it big in the lull between prog and punk
Some great songs though.
Steve Forbet, another that should have been bigger.

re Talk Talk,  I just happened to click onto BBC 4 a couple of weeks ago and this was on

BBC Four - Classic Albums, Tears for Fears: Songs from the Big Chair

If it becomes available again it is well worth an hour of your time.

We've done this before, so my hat goes into the ring again for the mighty Hüsker Dü.  Admired, but never remotely bettered by the likes of Pixies, Nirvana, Foos etc.

XTC  "Senses working overtime" is one of those songs that featured in a defining time of my life.

Not sure if he has been mentioned but I give you

Joe Jackson  - a true genius.
