Question for people on this thread.

How long are you reasonably prepared to tolerate the restrictions for? If you were told today that nothing will change in 2021 what would your thoughts be?

Surely there has to come a point where there is a way out of this. If by summer we have everyone over 50 vaccinated then would you still be fine with lockdown? Or maybe by September when all adults will have been offered the jab according to recent reports?

If the virus resists the vaccines then are we going to wait for a new vaccine and remain locked down indefinitely?

Great question bb, 1st I would be after Boris and Hancock to fuck right off so that someone with a brain would take control. There’s no reason we should be in lockdown forever as has been shown around the globe, this has been our own making.

I’d be working with nations that have done it by looking at the test and trace system needed, I’d be looking to have a major sharp lockdown with borders closed and extremely limited movement until we got hospitalisation under control and then release bit by bit with a strict nationwide testing procedure in place.

It’s been shown this can be done and it might involve locking down small areas as we come out but I would be looking for a proper system and plan in place by June at the latest.

Both my children had their first child last year, they are 45 miles away (not far in a normal world), I am not allowed to go and visit, interact with or cuddle my children or my new grandchildren as I would have in normal times.

We use face time and the like to stay in touch, and they send plenty of photographs but it is torture for me, and is seriously affecting my state of mind at times.

To say I look forward to the day the restrictions end is an understatement.

Some interesting replies to the questions I asked. Of course what we don't know is the effect the vaccine will have on the situation especially with this 12 week spacing experiment the Govt are undertaking.

It is yet again another example of them bragging about something that is built on pillars of sand as was the world beating track and trace. Every single time a politician is on TV they reference that we have vaccinated more people than anywhere else in Europe but that is all smoke and mirrors. In a couple of months time I doubt they will be boasting that we have the least amount of people FULLY vaccinated when other countries have given out both doses to their citizens whilst we have millions of people halfway through the process. Time will tell what is the best policy but if this decision turns out to be the wrong one then Lord help them.

So what would you have you're mom and dad vaccinated or one fully and the other one not..... Its not a bad strategy... I think your picking holes in it when they will be vaccinated and be perfectly safe as there is lockdown still in place

I understand the point about some protection v no protection but I guess that depends when you think lockdown may be eased. For those in the top 4 vulnerable groups they won't all have had two jabs until mid May. Considering that Hancock stated 88% of deaths will be from the top 4 vulnerable groups then getting those people fully protected asap would seem a wise move. Could we have achieved that quicker if we went with the 3 week strategy instead of rolling it out to groups lower down the scale? 

I am not an expert so the policy may be a masterstroke but it is interesting that we seem to be going our own way with this policy as yet. They have consistently said they are following the science - well that is not the case with this plan is it? Unless I am mistaken there is no data to support a 12 week spacing policy so there surely is some element of risk in taking this approach.

It does seem to be stretching it. Maybe if the 2nd jab was put back to 6 or even 8 weeks after the first?   I remember seeing someone say even Boris can't fuck up the roll out of the vaccination......Twelve weeks, Hmmm?

I think the conversation should be had. In March we were told Cheltenham Races was ok, masks weren’t necessary and schools were safe despite the numbers (tbf some are still saying this... Jenny Harris).

What has Cheltenham got to do with the vaccine?
If someone gets very ill and they haven't had their second jab within 12 weeks then there is a discussion.... My dad has had his but he was more than willing to wait if others got theirs as he was stopping in anyhow.

Did you read the report? Those asking the question are Doctors. The Cheltenham example was to show that the scientific advice that was previously given as correct may not be or at least be open to question.
