Why is there no mention of under 16s on the rollout plan?

When more doses are delivered, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has advised that people are given the vaccine in the following order:

1. residents in a care home for older adults, and their carers
   
   
2. everyone aged 80 and over, and frontline health and social care workers
   
   
3. everyone aged 75 and over
   
   
4. everyone aged 70 and over, and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable
   
   
5. everyone aged 65 and over
   
   
6. people aged 16 to 64 with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and death from Covid-19
   
   
7. everyone aged 60 and over
   
   
8. everyone aged 55 and over
   
   
9. everyone aged 50 and over
   

These groups cover 90-99% of those at risk of dying from Covid-19, according to the JCVI.

After these nine priority groups, there will be a second phase of vaccination for other groups in the population.

The ages of the populations are as follows (2019):

80 and over - 3.37M
75-79 - 2.33M
70-74 - 3.32M add to them the extremely vulnerable which was about 1.2M wasn't it (some of those may be included in above)
65-69 - 3.37M
60-64 - 3.76M
55-59 - 4.41M
50-54 - 4.66M

So if you have to have 2 doses each, I'll be getting it when the've got around 50M doses.

I understand that but the other day the new vaccines minister was talking about the possibility of airlines, bars, stadiums etc requiring a vaccine. The reason for this would be to protect others not you as an individual you would assume. So if more airlines follow Qantas and require this then will they extend it to children?

I don't think that is going to happen any time soon, I'd worry about that after they've completed the roll out. They can't only allow people on board who've had the vaccine if they haven't had the chance of getting the vaccine.

According to official guidance released today: The priority list does not include children under 16, and the vaccine should only be offered to kids "at very high risk of exposure and serious outcomes", according to official guidance.

So going on that my kids won't be required to have the vaccine.

I think there will be provision for those who are caring for someone, such as family members if they are classed as carers.
