Yeah saw that, still no explanation for how much the population increase was calculated - 7% in four years (compared with 7% over 10 years being the norm) and still below the current death toll. Basically that says that in the worst year that the could find recently and adding an over the normal rate of population growth the death toll for one week still isn't as bad as it is now. Getting desperate to stick to the story I see.

And who'd have thought that the Daily Fail would print any bollox without checking it.

I'm not. The stupid and chavvy 'middle', and the NIMBY pensioners occupying much of its readership want to get out and back to Marbs and the Costas. They are also terrified about their house prices.

Neither am I surprised about the irony of the and how the facts can be twisted to strike fear in our hearts comment. Don't give away the game lads!

This whole Freedom Pass/Covid Pass keeps on being touted. If true then you would have to be blind not to see where it is leading.

Ok let me explain it clearly - the figure used to compare the week 44 deaths was from 2016 and it was 'adjusted for population growth'. It was adjusted upwards by 7%, the actual population growth 2016 - 2020 was 2.4%.

It's a lie and it's being repeated by idiots who want to believe it

Basically they have taken the worst year in recent memory and added a number that is made up and compared that to this year. Completely ignoring the fact that against an average year we have have 4k more deaths than the average for the last 4 weeks and 57k against the year to date. These morons are only going to add to that number by allowing it to spread more. I've heard of 4 people that have had it in the last two weeks in relatively close proximity to my immediate family.

To be fair, this is an excellent debate and I have respect for all views, it's a learning situation and no one really knows. What will wreck that is people calling each other names for simply having a different point of view. Keep it civil, eh lads?

No, and I don't expect anyone will. But I do think it will all come to an abrupt end when someone flounces for being called an idiot and then I'll have to start reading things like the BMJ and The Lancet myself. No one wants to have to do that. Smile
