Finally heard back off Currys, and they eventually let me pay over the phone. However it took several hours more phoning and posting stuff on their Facebook, I even contacted some gaming websites to see if they would investigate the scam.
Every phone call started the same way, oh sorry you've lost the pre-order we'll refund the deposit... By the end I said I was going to invoice them for 3 hours work for all my wasted time, said that I would be asking gaming media to investigate and I'd go to Trading Standards. Maybe a coincidence, but they then started calling me back and the next day someone phoned to take payment... No idea how much others in the same boat pushed for it, or if Currys were genuinely chasing people up, just seemed strange after 2 weeks that after my last call they did something. Either way it's paid for and will hopefully come on time! I know from their Facebook that there were hundreds of people who paid the deposit and never got the code, and the woman who eventually took payment agreed and said it had been a shambles.

Dreadful organisation, least you're hopefully sorted now!
When it comes to new console launches, for me the best bet is either Microsoft/Sony themselves, or a company like GAME who specialise in the area, and have done things like this countless times (with new console launches/new massive game launches etc etc).

Currys are a shambles.
They have taken my Dad's TV off him for the third time this year for repair. Second time it was marked for disposal, but that is another story.
Their policy is if they don't get it back to you in 1 week you are elligable for a new TV. They have had it 4 weeks today.
They say you need to ring this number, at 5p a minute. My Dad spend 4hrs trying 3 weeks ago, no answer. He spent 2hrs last Monday, just letting it ring, eventually someone answered and said it was not repairable so we would be sent a voucher to get new TV in store in next few days via email. So not so bad.
Nothing has come, and you keep getting pushed to ring this phone number that no one answers. So looks like another half day, trying that. Shambles

Just sorting out a Gamepass subscription ahead of tomorrow.
Any recommendations that’ll look “next gen” that I can blast through in a week? Is Gears 5 any good for instance?

DOOM Eternal is meant to be pretty decent if that's something you enjoy

Think Star Wars Fallen Order has been added to GamePass today, as part of the EA Access joining it. Definitely worth playing that if you've not already.
In other news, my Series X arrived earlier, rather chuffed

I loved Doom Eternal, played it on the PS4. It’s in my top three for GOTY so far, along with Ghost of Tsushima and FF7: Remake.
Sat patiently trying to do some work whilst waiting for the UPS man to turn up with my Series S.
Gonna be even more restless next Thursday.

Yeah I’m looking forward to putting the two (and the Switch) next to each other.
Got a few games downloading from GP at the moment - Gears 5 & Tactics, Madden 20, Halo and a few indies. Think I’m already going to be bumping up against my storage limit.
