Why?

Because we will sign at least one player.
On other matters Berahino signed on loan for.     Sporting de Charleroi In France just a bit of  useless information.

One player is not enough. And we’ve dramatically smaller pool to fish in now. And let’s not forget Championship clubs will now hold all the power.

Don’t believe that for one minute a lot of them including Huddersfield, are in need money and I for One don’t think there will turn down a financial package for Grant. But it’s just my opinion.

They've been one of Belgium's better teams for the last couple seasons - imagine his current club can't afford him so are moving him on.

If we get Austin and Zohore off the wage bill and bring Grant in, great.

But Grant hasn’t played yet this season. How long will it take him to get up to speed? What if he gets injured a few games in?

Then why aren’t they accepting one right now?

So what if we get Grant? He might do well and score a few but he won’t put his foot in in midfield, he won’t be commanding in the air defending set pieces, he won’t provide quality at full back, he won’t make decent team selections or tactics.

Agreed, it's nowhere near enough

And this is exactly why today is such a massive disappointment. It's not about whether we expected other targets or whether we have another 2 weeks to sign these players. We've lost any negotiating power, if any other PL clubs need strikers then there's potential for bidding wars and if we fail on our main targets then we'll have to look at lower quality replacements from a limited selection of players.

Whoever we wanted to sign should have been in before today's deadline.

It's going to be a long depressing season I'm afraid with a lot of massive defeats.

Two points
1 - we need at least a right back and a striker, and as i understand our options now are only EFL players . And even if we can source players of sufficient quality to fill our requirements, we will need to pay a transfer fee, something we don't seem capable of doing.

2 - What is going to happen in the next 11 days that makes deals possible, that haven't been possible so far.
