You can do it with a raspberry pi for half the price.

They do take a bit of learning, the new one has 2 4K outputs and is incredibly powerful.

I struggled with a few things - all the various setups, formatting and what not... Then I got a mate to set it up for me, loaded 11,000 games across a dozen systems - Megadrive, SNES, PS1, N64, etc and the choice simply overwhelmed me. There was too much for me to get grips with, I’d spend ages just trawling through lists looking for something to play.

My mini-SNES has about 60 or so games that I hand picked to play so shouldn’t be as overwhelming. I also like playing these games on their original software/controllers so these mini consoles are as good as you can get to the originals.

I’ve also got a mini PS1 which I bought for 30 quid then bought a memory stick for 20 with another 100 classic games loaded on to it.

It is ridiculously good, and pant soilingly terrifying when Mr X turns up.

Did Leon A without much trouble, Claire’s run with more Mr X is stressfull beyond belief! Just got the Sherry’s bit so know I’m pretty much done with him now for this play through. It’s fucking awesome though.

Raspberry Pi is a credit card sized computer board, you can run various operating systems etc... on them. They were / are quite useful as boards for getting illegal TV / Movie streams too (not tried in a while though, so someone else may be able to provide details on if that still works)

The TV/movies thing is just one tiny part of what they can be used for, the new v4 that's come out has dual 4k outputs! You can easily download and install retropie https://retropie.org.uk/ onto one and only put N64 games on it. You'll need to download the roms (game file) from the net and the law is a bit sketchy on this, I think if you own/owned the cartridge downloading the rom file isn't illegal but it's down to your conscience really. You can get an adapter to use your N64 controller into the USB porrts of the pi, but you can also map the buttons to any usb compatible controller but not many controllers have as many buttons as the N64 ones and certain games require those controls. Or you could just buy a second hand N64 with an adapter to it into your MCW TV.

Oh I know they can do all sorts of things, the TV /Movies was probably what made them most popular. I mean clever bods have set them up to go in weather balloons and didn't someone send one into space to do something as well? Lots of kids science projects in schools are set up on them as well. Versatile is not the word for the Pi... I think they're only about £50 too...(with case, power, etc...) I've not bothered since the Pi2 & Pi3 though so am not totally up to date on them.
