' Transfer Speculation Thread '
It’s disappointing that Phillips, Moore, Donley and Lankshear have all gone to Championship level clubs (or in Moore’s case, lower), and we don’t seem to have been in the conversation for any of them.

All 4 would have added something to our present squad.

Maybe Mason thinks they’re shit?
In the form of his life.

Unless Son is on his way up the M40 as we speak...

Is this even a thing, managers going back to their old clubs for loans? Seems a bit like swap deals, in that it appears an established process, but rarely happens in reality.  Huh

Only obvious example I can think of was Lampard getting Mount and Tomori for Derby.

Imagine we would have been interested in Moore along with the majority of others in the division. Lankshear has probably done the right thing and joined a club he's more likely to play at and doesn't Donley play in the same position as Price and Bany? I'm surprised we didn't try for Ashley Phillips who has also gone to Stoke

We want any Premier League loans to be virtual automatic starters really. A 20/21 year old true centre mid from one of the top teams should be a priority.

Correct

Given we have signed two players who can play central defence, plus a central defender who was out on loan last season is for now in the squad, why would we want another central defender.

Phillips joined Stoke a few weeks ago now, I was just saying I thought he was one we would have been interested in.

I was a bit surprised we went for Nat Phillips given how Nestor has spoken about how he wants us to play and if Heggem goes I hope we would bring in a replacement. Campbell seems to be the back-up for both full-backs currently and Mason hasn't seemed to fancy Taylor as of yet in pre-season

Appleton took Griffiths, Palmer, Morton and Soule on loan at Lincoln a few seasons back, also had Rogers when he was at Man City.
