Cann is 23 in December, give him a go tonight. If he is not ready now he is never likely to be

With Sanchez leaving Brighton and Raya potentially Brentford….that’s another 2 clubs to be added to interested mix along with Newcastle.

Benefit of Griffiths is the British tick in the squad numbers.

If they judge him as a no2 & we’re seeing the likes of Sanchez (Brighton second choice) leaving for £20m then £5m seems a joke

The fact that we couldn't find a club to loan him to at a higher level than Leamington last season suggests that he can't really be highly-rated.

Josh Griffiths is a WBA player who is no.2 for U21s

£5m rising to £7m with potential sell-on added to contract would be fantastic business.

Some WBA fans need a reality check!

As I’ve said previously I also hope it’s Newcastle he goes to.

Agree. It's a reasonable fee. Only concern for me is how much gets reinvested in the squad.

i wasn't that impressed by Griffiths to be honest, I acknowledge there's always room to improve, but he didn't look anything special to me.

Why would we ask for £15m for a player that isn’t that special? We don’t tell people what we want normally, we have a figure we deem acceptable and it’s upto the bidding club to match that fee.

because normally we'd tell them five and take 2... We ask 15 they offer 6 we take it, they think they get a bargain...

Fair enough, I thought he was the number 1 for us at U23 level though, so assumed he must be Louie Barry / {insert name of amazing wunderkid} type good.

I really don't know. It's hard for us to judge him because so little has been seen of him by fans. The fact that the club have kept until the age of 23 is something I suppose, but at that age he should be having loans at a much higher level than Leamington. He has displaced Button in the pecking order, but that isn't saying much really.

Sadly that really isn't how it works in football. His agent will know exactly what we're prepared to accept, and that's what they tell interested clubs.

Clubs know we're skint and need to sell for cashflow. We have very little negotiating power. The O'Shea sale was still stupid though, would have absolutely got 8 million had we stuck to our guns.

i know, but I'd rather we tried old baldy's way of negotiation than the current, you want to give us how much method... My figures may be excessive, i was just using figures posted by others. In reality if we got £5m for an unproven kid and we got a decent sell on clause then it would be good business. the English player though does command a premium, so who knows maybe we can get £7m.

The Griffiths situation if he plays tonight, I won’t believe the crap that’s come out that 2 clubs have had a bid accepted.
But if he doesn’t play then he is probably gone. Then we must look at bringing in a new keeper to keep Palmer on his toes.
