We used to be respected around the world as a strong nation that put it's people first and look at how the world sees us now, weak and a totally different identity and values to what we had when I was growing up, it wasn't perfect but it wasn't the shambles it is now .

Are we on about the UK that embraced globalism and European integration between the 1980s and 2010s or the UK that was embarrassed on Suez and went cap in hand to the IMF as the sick man of Europe between the 50s and 70s?

It's an interesting view Tippo, it would be helpful for context to understand what time period you refer to as when we used to be respected as a strong nation that put its people first.

And if you could help by answering Ted's question on how Reform will help to get back to that position that would be good to understand.

Regardless of your political/economical persuasion I think there was a real buzz of Cool Britannia from the '96 Euros onwards until the Olympics.

I am on about the UK that now treats me as a second class citizen, I have worked and paid taxes all of my life and I have friends who work in social housing, the local council and the nhs and if I needed any help from those institutions then I don't think it's unfair to expect be treated equally but I am not, how ironic is it that I do not even feel comfortable showing evidence that I have to support my experience, whatever happened to freedom of speech? That used to be a fundamental right in this country but another value that has been outlawed, one of far too many. I will have to shut up now as I can't express my views on here, so enjoy your day everyone and stay safe.
