For 30 - 40 years there has been a well known maxim amongst Police recruitment departments that went basically along the lines of if you have failed to reach the entry standard to get in to a provincial force try a large City force and if all that fails try The Met.

A terrible set of circumstances and my condolences go out the victim's family. 

There was another officer a few months ago who killed his lover who was his colleague's wife.

Severe wrong'uns exist in society, its just a fact. Also, they are not excluded from becoming police officers, I suspect few people put 'murderer' on their CV.

In the meantime, the many good'uns have found the poor girls body (imagine that), broken that news to her family (imagine that) and identified and arrested somebody who, if found guilty, will face our reasonably sound legal system. I think overall we should be condoning their work, not slagging them off.

You wouldn't expect me to hide DB. 
Experience allows me to argue for the majority but it doesn't stop the anger, feeling of being let down (again) and to a degree shame at the standards that seem to be eroding by the minute in this and every profession. 
The devastating affect this type of shoite has on the decent people doing this job is enormous. 
Add to that the fact I have a 21 year old daughter and a 31 year old son living in London I can't begin to imagine the suffering of Sarah's family at the moment.

His head injury may be self imposed or from another prisoner in the cells I suspect. 
In matters like this Police Officers are rarely allowed anywhere near the offender excepting the interview teams. 
Given the circumstances of the offence he will need to get used to it.
