Seventeen going under - Sam Fender. Think it sums up how lots of young people struggle and often through no fault of their own. As a parent who adopted, it makes me think that could have been my son.

Can you feel the love tonight from Lion King was played at my brother's funeral when I was younger and I still well up whenever I hear it. My lad had a series of operations when he was younger to remove growths from within his ear. The first one he went in for the missus stayed that first night and I drove home and then that came on the radio. Should have pulled over as it got me in a bit of a mess.

Nimrod - Edward Elgar. Not just for the link to Remembrance but just a wonderful tune that builds to and almost overwhelms as it reaches its crescendo.

Songs in a similar vein that I find incredibly powerful are both arrangements by Ralph Vaughan Williams - Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, and Fantasia on Greensleeves. Both massively uplifting and inspiring. On a very personal level I’d have to say Edelweiss, my mom’s favourite song from The Sound Of Music. When it was played at her funeral it just wiped everybody out.

Gabriel’s Oboe by Morricone.
Beautiful piece of music. (02-09-2026, 11:14 AM)Bob Fossil Wrote: Wires by Athlete popped up on my playlist over the weekend and, as usual, bought a tear to my eye as it's written about the birth of the lead singer's premature baby. The Kiss by Michael Franks - listen on New Years Eve
