These threads get funnier with each passing match.

I appreciate that some posters are researching the various stats sites and putting time into their posts, so it must be the interpretation of said data that is found wanting ?

No, it’s not that Jacko. People view the game differently. As CA was saying about the 'feel' of the game. It doesn't matter to me one bit how the game feels, to be honest. I look for different things. But to others it's what they watch football for, and that's fine too. Each to their own isn't it?

There’s a place for stats, they just need to be in context to the game.  Saying we didn’t control the second half because they had chances too is only part the story.  It needs to be in context to the score line, the timing and the use of wins etc.  At 1-4 it was game over, so any chances in those last few minutes were irrelevant to the result, yet made it look a tighter game on chases etc than it actually was.

I assume the stats will show we were utter shit in the first half! If not I’d give them up.

Both teams were shit first half as the game was crap, stodgy and boring as we were too deep but kept most of the ball in uninspiring positions. 

They only actually had three shots first half. But we had none. 

Second half we opened the game up and there was a glut of shots and chances for both teams, but we were more clinical (used correctly here   ).

Fwiw, I agree that stats are only any good in context, but context is usually personally subjective, that's why people disagree or agree with certain stats.
