We had the best midfield in the world... probably.

Probably not, but there have been times when we didn't even have the best midfield in West Brom, so this lot were pretty damn good! Big Grin

The worst thing was that after we got promoted, Borja Valero played 30 times in the Prem and Kim 16 times. Robert Koren and Johnno Greening could have bossed the central midfield but Mogga was determined to play those two tippy-tappy lightweights. Meanwhile Graham Dorrans didn't get a game until December and only played 8 in the league all season. Of course we only had one competent centre back and no goal scorers, so midfield wasn't the only factor in our demise.

But all that aside, we very nearly survived… late goals against I think it was Pompey and Blackburn at home in successive games killed us. If we’d held out, we’d have survived.

Second half of the season TM found a formula that worked, Fortuné and Menseguez added a lot.

I do say had we not penny pinched and given SuperKev the 2 year deal he wanted, we’d have survived. He was playing PL football I think 5 years later with Palace!

Everyone goes on about the defence but Ish Miller (might as well have been career ending) injury just as he was getting to grips with the division and then not signing a striker in January to replace him is what cost us that year. We created sooo many chances.

Think this would be mine to start.

Swift & Grady to play big parts off the bench. Possibly Wallace too.

Bench looks woefully weak and will be our undoing until we get some reinforcements in.

Looking forward to today though Smile

Hopefully the players will be trying to impress Mogga today and will be making an extra effort.
We need a good win. COYB
