Mogga interview extract…

It's all good and well saying what you want your team to do. But more often than not it's hollow sentiment.

What is most important is; how good is the coaching? How well drilled are their teams? How detailed is the preparation? How adept are the methods to squeeze every last ounce of performance out of a limited squad?

We have to get the right coach with the correct profile.

Haha as I posted elsewhere this afternoon? Again, who's stalking who?

Mogga “Me and Mark just want players to play with confidence and urgency. We want them to pass it, but pass it forward through the lines and at pace. I don’t want my fullbacks hooking it over their shoulders to clear, I don’t want my centre halves just heading it back into the middle of the pitch, I want them to head it into good positions.  I don’t want to just lump it up there, yes I want the ball high up the pitch but we pass it and pass it quickly”

He’ll do for me.

It's worth pointing out that the above isn't a definition of "tippy-tappy" football. Some people seemingly can't remember what positive qualities he brought to us during the successful stage of his first stint here. Others seem to think that everything he's done is in ancient history when it was only a year ago that he joined Blues. They were hopeless, having been Rooneyed, yet he came in and they got 13 points from the 8 games he was in charge. Once he had to leave, they slumped again and eventually got relegated. In the short time he was there, Blues fans established a great affinity with him.

As for those who claim that he can't achieve anything without a pre-season, the above doesn't suggest that and neither does the fact that he joined Sunderland on August 30th 2022 and took them to the play-offs. He was sacked when they were 9th last season - they finished 16th in the end.

I'd have him back in a heartbeat if he gets the all-clear and the Board is satisfied with the health side of things, but this might all be pointless conjecture as there hasn't actually been anything solid in the media to link us with him. We'll see...

Sounds great. Trouble is I can’t remember Martis, Barnett, Cesar, Donk etc actually playing like that

He’s changed his methodology over the years. He owns that as well in the interview.

I think this has got Mowbray until the end of the season written all over it. Provided he gets the all-clear.

I give it two minutes before he announces,

"This is a proper football club." in his first interview.

Lovely guy but still sounds incredibly naive and old school. Maybe a good thing but seems at odds with what we believed the owners wanted in terms of a technical coach who would instill great organisation and drills to the team and follow the C C template
