This Squad

Surely if we are expecting an announcement of a new manager then he would have been in attendance today ,he may well have been but if not then it might not yet been done yet .Anyone itk about any of this as this is normally the way it works .
The thing I don't understand is we've had multiple games this season where we've either had zero choice as to who plays in the back four or we've had to play people out of position, and other ones where we've only had two fit centre midfielders and yet some of our fans want to start shipping players back and weakening our squad further in terms of numbers. It's like there's a logic of 'unless you're in the first team or if you have a bad game you're a waste of space and we don't need you, lets just have the players that are performing well and playing week in week out' and it doesn't work like that.
In the past few weeks I've read that we should get rid of Swift, Wallace, Devante Cole needs to go on loan, Holgate, Taylor needs to go back on loan, Racic should be sent back, Diangana should go; so basically we're gonna be left with a squad of about 12 players and everyone knows how difficult it is to replace players in January. Right now we're holding onto a playoff place by 1 point, which we may not have if we're forced to play players out of positions or youngsters in the first team for multiple games. Getting rid of Holgate is a bad idea, getting rid of Racic is also a bad idea unless we can guarantee another replacement who is up to scratch. We shouldn't be getting rid of anyone that's a first team regular, and no one off the bench without a guaranteed replacement. And we lost today because a much better team with a manager showed that they were much better than us.

All of this ' he needs to go, they need to go' is reliant on other clubs actually wanting them. I can't see other Championship clubs wanting the likes of Swift and Wallace, and lower league teams would be able to afford them. The only ones we can realistically lose are the loaners. Holgate has looked poor whenever I've seen him, as has Racic. If we release them, hopefully we can replace with better, but that's not a given. Hopefully our new manager may have contacts who could get is a couple of hidden gems in, and maybe he will have some moderate funds to spend, the CC compensation maybe? Other than that, unless we sell the likes of Maja, Tom or Heggem, we're gonna be stuck with what we have. We should still be able to get in,or close to,the top 6, and then, who knows?

Looked like a team that was half arsed today.
Changing of the guard coming at a very apt time.

No but they made 2 changes less than us and we all know that the greed league is better than us. We lost but not actually disgraced they were clinical and we weren’t. But I cannot wait till the new man takes over and a couple of new faces to sharpen us up.

Their second choice goalscorers cost £20m, £10m, £10m and a £1.5m academy free respectively. Our defense cost £0, £0, £0, £400k and 900k respectively. That's all.

Stolen from twitter:
In six months we've gone from Townsend 31, Kipre 28, Pieters 36, Kelly 34, Chalobah 30, Reach 32, M'Vila 34, Yokuslu 30, Phillips 33, Weimann 33. To: Bany 21, Price 21, Heggem 26, Diakite 24, Styles 24, Johnston 25, Fellows 21. I think it's pretty clear what Shilen and the crew are trying to do. For years we've needed to reduce the age of the squad and cut out the big wages, and that's what we seem to be doing. I don't know if it'll work but I admire the strategy |
