Yes but this site is a bunch of middle aged men and a couple of women who have been watching football for years and yet some still cannot comprehend that there are two teams on the pitch and for everything we are trying to do the opposition are trying to counteract. We are looking at an extremely competitive league and we aren’t going to win or play well in every game. It was a tight frustrating game, they happen every year, some go for you some against.

I don’t think anyone is doubting that Derek, the issue is more of those tight games are going against us than they ought to be, and some of us are suggesting there may be alternative things we should try to change this.

We've only lost once all season. The Portsmouth match was ruined by the ref, IMO.

Exactly.

I didn’t realise we weren’t allowed to talk about the fact this has been an issue for a few seasons now?

We failed to beat Pompey (and are blaming the ref), and we’ve failed to beat Derby twice this season… it’s not about overreacting to a defeat, it’s about questioning whether our inability to beat 3 very defensive teams in 4 home games after a couple seasons of struggling to do so suggests we’ve overlooked some of the longstanding issues with the squad.

Josh, all good posts and I agree, arguing with the naysayers, nitpickers and professional managers is like wrestling with a pig in mud..............

They're obviously a very tricky team to beat at home when they're defending so deep and have all their players behind the ball.

I’m not sure some take any notice of what the other team are doing when they judge our own performances.

But over time fans of Manchester City have suggested this. Chelsea too. Guess what? The reason football is the most popular sport in the world is because it can be unpredictable.  Unlike boxing,  tennis or golf, it's a team game and thus can't be predicted to the final degree. Whatever the accuracy of my expressed opinions on here, and in view of the situation our club found itself 2 years ago,  I  am very comfortable with what I'm watching.  Happy clapper? Aye,  Realist? Again,  Aye. Get a grip, 46 games FFS.!
