You both know I haven't said anything like that.

From what I can read into your comments BJ, you believe that when the government put armed men into your neighbourhood then you should hide away and hope that they haven’t come for you. If they go into your neighbours house and drag him out because he is from the wrong ethnic background then you should just pull the curtains over. And if anyone does dare to go out and protest against these government troops to try and protect their friends and neighbours then their family have to accept that they might not come home tonight.

I would hope both incidents are thoroughly investigated and put before a jury, with all evidence made available.

Problem is it's got that partisan out there you're always going to have one 'side' claiming an unfair trial, as it's going to be either a state or federal investigation.

As mentioned before, you are looking at civic norms breaking down because their society is that fractured they cannot accept election results, outcomes of trials etc.

But then again, that also goes a long way back (GW Bush Florida election result / OJ / Rodney King), so maybe not a modern phenomena.

Polarisation very neatly set out in the post above - you can legitimately set out the scenario as per protecting your neighbours from an out of control goon squad, but you can also describe it as obstructing government officials detaining people who have broken immigration law (note: even then not a justification for being shot, that would be separate issue for s jury). Both are true, which suggests the underlying issue isn't the method, it's the policy - this is a problem, not something that can be reconciled.

Personally I think the place would be a lot calmer if it split into 2+ countries more in line with the views of its populace.
