I wonder if the rich and famous are more susceptible to it?
If your successful at a young age (maybe being a club hero) and then out of the game in a few years at your mid 30's that you love must be very difficult. Its also a career that has lots of ups and downs and many end their career with everyone clapping you off the pitch (livermore?) I often wonder how it affects them.
At least most of us at 65 when we retire are totally knackered or look forward to a slower pace of life.
Work is a big part of my life and fortunately in a job that is occasionally stressful but I love. Would be hard I guess if I had to give it up completely at an early age or even worse 20000 people cheering when I went home!
