Oh dear. It's probably as you imagine. I avoid the 19th hole generally as I am not prepared to listen to it. Not just the politics but also " did you see my terrible shank at the 8th?" Or "I took a bloody 4 on the 17th". Post round dissections as tedious as anything by Eric.
My approach is turn up with mates at tee off time, play round and have a bloody good laugh, usually at my expense,bugger off home. The club think I'm odd as I don't turn up for socials, club or society days, fundraisers etc. They are probably right.
I've got one of these points-based memberships so not really a fully fledged "club" thing but don't take part in anything outside playing with mates. Discussing a round post-play is only used as a piss-take; for any bystanders this is nearly as boring as people telling you what they've lifted or how many reps they've done at the gym (which is on a par with people talking about Formula 1). The game-changers over the past year is my son learning to drive and he often comes with us which allows a higher consumption of ale and less of a shit given. Wonderful.
