I only saw The Hives once round the time that Hate To Say I Told You So had really broken them through. I'd bought a ticket to see at Manchester Student Union (may have been the tiny Hop and Grape on the top floor) and it was upgraded to the main Academy and I'm not sure I've ever been to a gig which felt more over-crowded. It was ridiculous. They were very entertaining and had great energy but not one I ever felt the need to see again. They had 3 or 4 really good early singles but there was a hell of a lot of filler as well.

Yeah I don’t think I’ve actually listened to a Hives album beyond the first one, but have caught them a few times at festivals down the years and they’re always hugely entertaining.
