First choice player for a top 6 side in League 1, whilst in his very early 20s (still a young age for that position) suggests there is talent that should only improve with experience.
If we can get a fee for him and use the funds to improve the squad then fine, but writing him off as never going to be good enough seems extremely previous.
I don't think anyone has said that? He might be good enough in the future, Sam Field would add to our squad now, should we have waited for four years to find out? Chances are he wouldn't be the player he is now, if he'd of spent all that time sat on our bench. Was let go at a similar point to where Taylor is now.
If he was going to break into and hold down a spot in our team, he needed to have done it by now, he isn't a kid any more. Countless managers haven't fancied him, even Val who was so wedded to playing a back three - which would be ideal for blooding a young CB - didn't give him a sniff.
We're looking at replacing him with Beckmann, who is younger and has more experience in a better league already. The deals make perfect sense if we can make it happen.
