Jamie Overton added to the England squad for the Oval test, go figure? Assuming Archer will rest and Overton has a bit of extra pace. Worryingly, still no Mark Wood.

Would like to see Atkinson come in for Woakes. Carse gets one more chance to prove himself after a poor summer with ball in hand, albeit on crap pitches.

I can't help but think the last test couldn't have gone better for England management. Bowling all day on the fifth day, Dawson holding up an end but not being threatening whatsoever means they can revert back to Bashir for the Ashes.

Atkinson? I might be wrong but think he's hardly a first 11 choice for Surrey.
