I have just been informed that Mrs OF has booked us a table at the pub in July
Some people are complaining that prices have jumped, £24 for a steak pie and veg. Clarkson replied it's the price of beef, I looked it up and he's right it's probably 35% up on last year. Others said it was a really good meal and well worth it, I await your review
Tbh I expected his prices to be higher given the pubs location and 'fame'.
Just back from Clarkson's "The Farmer's Dog" pub. A beautiful evening to drive through the Cotswolds to Burford. The pub was busy but not overcrowded. The food was good, not cheap, but good quality and the staff serving were excellent. The restaurant setting on the outside decking with fantastic views is classically English. Can't say I am mad about his Hawkstone lager which is a bit gassy, but overall a great way to spend a beautiful summer evening. The pub provides 150 jobs for local people and all of the food is from local farmers.
For those of you whose hatred of Clarkson's exaggerated petrolhead character, prevents you from watching Clarkson's Farm, get over yourself for an hour and take a look. You might be surprised. You'll learn a lot about how tough it is to be a farmer.
Except he's not really a farmer. Well only for the TV series. He openly stated he bought the farm as a tax loophole and doesn't like any attempt to close that.
watching him covered in afterbirth from spending all night in a lambing shed seems a good tax dodge to me. I must speak to my accountant about it.
