Why? Not saying that’s he’s not the right man but success in a caretaker role does not mean that the caretaker is right for a long-term contract. Short-termism and fickleness are not what the club needs to move forward with a long-term plan.

There is no reason why Abella shouldn't be considered, but as in most large businesses I would expect him to go through the same interview process as any other applicants.
His inside knowledge might give him an advantage, as with any internal job application, but not be the basis for any decision.
We dont even know if he wants it. He has his badges and has worked as a number two previously, so this may be the chance he had been waiting for. Alternatively he may be enjoying the security and longevity of position that comes from the data coaching he is doing.
What we DO know us that Brunty wouldn't touch the job with yours, so the head coach will need a new team around him.
I judge our recruitment process against Stoke's. And if we are doing the opposite, as it appears, I'm quite confident.
