Flagged for point scoring.
Don't worry Ted. Dekka won't be happy unless somebody turns up with an abacus, sacks all the analysts and sports science staff, starts shouting "gerrit fucking forward" and reintroduces the magic sponge and half time orange segments. All whilst having a "I hate Pep and all his followers" poster in his office. Which is just an empty room full of tobacco smoke and a blank tactics board.
I understand tactics and sports science as much as you think you do
I’m not a football Luddite, I just don’t slavishly follow trends or think because I go on a few stats sites I’m more insightful than others. Football trends come and go, there is nothing ground breaking or particularly insightful about doing the same as other coaches do. Fitness and data help any coach or manager but they aren’t the only attributes they need to succeed, ultimately they are just tools. This brings me onto Williams, I have no idea if he would be a success and neither do our finance and tactical wbaunofficial board experts
. It’s ok to have preferences and it’s never an exact science with regards to recruitment. From what I’ve seen he’s achieved less than Robins and Eustace as a manager, his Swansea team from the games I’ve seen are bang average, neither punching above or below their squads ability. I didn’t just decide he wouldn’t be my preference after a drubbing at Pompey, not that matters. Whoever gets the job lives or dies by their results nothing more or less. Let’s see who we get… I got diddly squat for saying I’d like Megson to be considered for the job before we appointed him, I got bugger all for declaring my support for Roy and RDM and I got nowt for them giving Bruce the time of day.
