We share a language with the US but we have more in common with Europe regardless of those that seek to isolate us from our neighbours. It will be folly to suck up to Trump he can’t be trusted and will leave us and the rest of Europe in the shit if it fits his agenda.
Btw if this imo poor Labour Government (so far) don’t get their act together they may well usher in our very own Trumpist, populist Farage. We have thousands/millions of people willing to believe that rich billionaires and millionaires are men/women of the people and will look after them and make them feel good by blaming migrants, the disabled and others for the mess the ruling classes have made of the things. It’s easy to point at someone with fug all and say they’re the ones to blame rather than address the issues.
Yeah this is one time you'd absolutely want your European country to be part of a union of some sort.
Part of a union, except that across Europe there's a rise of Trump like beliefs... It's not just America and here that's it's rising in.
It is because it’s an easy playbook to use… blame migrants for suppressed wages and rising costs…etc never ask companies making billions globally to pay decent wages to workers instead of maximising profit for shareholders. Try and make out Marek or Usma are to blame for petrol, food prices spiralling, or why you can’t get the an appointment at the doctors or a burglary investigated by the Police,
I’m not going to pretend that there aren’t problems with integration from migration there clearly are and as with everything in a decent society right should come with responsibilities and trying to shut down debate around it simply plays into the hands of Tommeh and Farage etc.
