Allan Lichtmann, the historian, academic and economist who has correctly predicted the last 10 presidents is still backing Harris. He rejects polling and instead works on the principal that new governments rarely win elections, but sitting governments lose them, and as such there are a string of factors that when combined can lead to losing power. Two of those are scandal and recession, hence why Trump’s strategy is always to create false claims of scandal or economic underperformance to create a narrative that can destabilise an existing government.
It’s damn close to call, and for those people thinking this election doesn’t really impact us and that we can sit back and watch the entertainment across the pond, give your head a wobble. A Trump win will cause chaos in the Middle East, Ukraine and Far East, energy/oil/commodities could well go crazy again, and we’d essentially be putting our main alley under the control of an insane and unpredictable tyrant…
