I understand most that posters are saying about the timescale,but what I was asking why were people were saying the deal is close.  Close means days or weeks not months. Why didn’t they just say the deal is ongoing and it will probably take a few months to finalise like rsbaggy did.

I'd suggest a matter of a few months is deemed close when completing these types of transaction.  Much like Kidderminster, it's all relative(s).

Agreed though - if you consider that when some have said it’s close, that a letter of intent might have been signed by Lai and the prospective buyer (which would set out indicative price and exclusivity terms), then it would be true that a deal is close, even if that means it is still a few months away.

In all honesty, I’m amazed we have come this far - the fact that Lai is open to selling at a huge discount to what he paid back in 2016, and is (reportedly) engaging with interested parties still shocks me. Still, I share everyone else’s impatience and won’t get my hopes up until I see that corner flag on a club statement.
