It's already looking like automatic might be a long shot given how the top two are playing but a comparatively small investment should be enough to secure a play-off spot and once you're there who knows what'll happen?
Alternatively you have to wait a minimum of 18 months to see a return on the investment, and even then there are no guarantees.
I don't disagree with the buy it now, short term investment and get promotion from the supporters point of view. But that's not what I see happening. Business has very little to do with the fans.
No but it has everything to do with identifying opportunities and moving at the right time.
Why wait for a £20m or so price drop when you'd only need to spend that to rebuild the squad after a fire sale? And have your investment doing nothing for an extra year?
Exactly. We've got a competitive team right now, with several difference makers waiting to come back in to the team.
We have no idea what the squad will look like on Feb 1st with no investment, but chances are we lose a majority of our key players, that any buyer will just have to replace anyway.
What's £20m difference in price, when the reward for getting promoted is £100m (ish)?!
Ok why don't we have a queue of eager buyers.
