Awful is harsh, but he's already cost two boundaries by failing to stop byes. I've no doubt Foakes would have caught the deliveries and prevented the runs.
The blame isn't Bairstow's to brunt. He's not a wicket keeper and is doing his best. Blame the idiotic selectors who continuously omit the best available wicket keeper. It's bloody ridiculous.
The first one he had no chance with. The second one flicked the pads, and he nearly got there, so fair enough, Foakes probably stops it.
Jonny is average as a wicketkeeper, he isn't awful. But he isn't Test standard.
I think Foakes stops both. He takes up a better starting position. Bairstow has just taken a great catch from Wood's 90mph bowling and plenty of swing.
Awful is harsh but he's capable. However he does cost wickets and leaks runs a proper wicket keeper would take and prevent. It's frustrating.
